Big screen with life traffic info, and alternative route recommendation on the road. Quite an useful device for most.

Before I purchased cars with built in satnavs I used to buy Garmin satnavs and were very impressed with them. So when I got fed up with my inbuilt model constantly letting me down when using coordinates, I decided to buy a stand-alone Garmin purely for the coordinate, which I use a lot with me regularly driving to out of the way nature reserves, etc. that require a grid reference. For this purpose and this purpose ONLY the Garmin DriveSmart 65 is excellent - but I am massively disappointed in EVERYTHING else about it. Considering that most cars now come with their own satnavs, I would have thought that the manufacturers of stand-alone models would have upped their products to match or better these. Not this one! Backward moves, such as no longer being able to key waypoints and points of interest directly on the map are numerous; the voice instructions are issued way too early for junctions, roundabouts, etc; little detail on the maps (woodlands, lakes, etc); plus very annoying things like "the end of the street" instead of road; and I have given up on getting the live traffic to work. It was bought it for the use of grid reference coordinates, and that is all it is good for.Read full review

Excellent well equipped GPS with many useful components. More technical information can be obtained the Garmin website. I have used Garmin GPSs for so many years with no hiccups at all. No misdirections, but early warnings of traffic congestion and sensible redirections to avoid hold ups. A product I would highly recommend.

Having used Garmin satnavs for many years I have no doubts about their quality and longevity. Unfortunately, my previous 5" screen Garmin was a bit too small for my ageing eyes so this 7" model has replaced it. It continues Garmins tradition of excellent build quality, clarity of display etc. and, of course, the lifetime map updates - now via WiFi as well as USB. Altogether a highly recommended satnav unit.
